Awareness and Behavior of Youth regarding Protection of Human Rights in the Constitution of Pakistan: A Case Study of Islamabad

In this research paper, the emphasis is placed on the level of awareness and compliance by the youth of Islamabad on the rights of people with reference to Pakistan’s Constitution. In the current research, quantitative method was used, and data was collected from 369 university students from six universities of Islamabad. The study compares the level of awareness and actions towards the constitutional rights among gender, the relationship between gender and awareness level, and the overall knowledge of youth in constitutional rights. In an even stronger manner, awareness and behavior were statistically significantly related and positively correlated; r = 0.67; p < 0.01. The results further supported the importance of education in promoting adherence to human rights. It is for this reason that the study reveals that youths have poor constitutional knowledge when it comes to issues of constitutional rights, and how they can be applied. This is a very important call for increasing human rights education to promote the views of youth and bring some changes in society. The presented results can be of great interest to policymakers, educators and representatives of human rights organizations as they contribute to the development of specific prevention measures aimed at increasing awareness and prevention activities among young people in Pakistan.
